Does gel polish damage your nails?
How correct application and removal keep your nails healthy.

When applied and removed correctly, gel polish does not damage your nails by itself. Most problems come from mistakes during preparation and removal.
Where does the damage come from?
- Filing the nail surface more than necessary
- Peeling or scraping the polish off at home
- Reapplying back to back without ever taking a break
What does correct application look like?
The nail surface should only be lightly buffed, the cuticle area gently cleaned, and each coat cured for the recommended time. Using hygienic, sterilized tools matters just as much as the application itself.
Correct removal
Do not peel off gel polish yourself. Having it removed in the salon with the right method, without harming the layers of the nail, prevents the nail from thinning.
Home care
- Use cuticle oil regularly.
- Wear gloves when cleaning.
- Avoid using your nails as tools.
If you notice thinning or sensitivity in your nails, talk to our specialist; a few weeks' break from polish can help.
